The Vikings have claimed former Packers tight end Brandon Bostick, the team announced on Wednesday. The 6-foor-3, 250-pound tight end was waived by Green Bay on Monday, about a month after his mistake on an onside kick allowed the Seahawks to come back and win the NFC Championship Game. Bostick spent two seasons with the Packers and registered nine catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns. With the addition of Bostick, the Vikings now have five tight ends on the active roster (Kyle Rudolph, Rhett Ellison, Chase Ford, Ryan Otten).
The Packers released tight end and special teams player Brandon Bostick on Monday, about a month after his mistake on an onside kick allowed the Seahawks to come back and win the NFC Championship Game. With the Packers leading 19-14 just before the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter, the Seahawks lined up for an onside kick. Bostick left his blocking assignment and attempted to recover the ball. The ball bounced off his hands, and the Seahawks recovered. The recovery led to a go-ahead score, and Seattle would eventually punch a ticket to the Super Bowl in overtime.
Packers tight end Brandon Bostick didn't catch a pass during Sunday's NFC Championship Game. He wasn't supposed to catch the onside kick at the end of the game either. Bostick told reporters after the game he was supposed to block for his teammates with 2:09 left in the game. "I let my team down, I feel like," Bostick said. "There was a lot on this game. I just feel like if I was able to do my job - my assignment was to block - Jordy would've caught the ball and the game would've been over." When the ball was kicked, Bostick popped up and tried to make a play on the ball, only to have it bounce off of his hands and into a Seahawks' arms. "I felt like I had my hands on the ball," Bostick said. "It just slipped away, I guess. I just got hit and didn't have the ball."
The Packers will have all of their injured players available Week 13 against the Patriots. Jarrett Bush and Nick Perry came into the contest listed as questionable, but will attempt to play. Bush is dealing with a groin injury. Perry has a shoulder issue. The team will also have Davante Adams, Brandon Bostick, T.J. Lang and Josh Sitton. All four players came into the game listed as probable.
