The 32-year Florence has spent most of his career as a starter with San Diego, Jacksonville, Buffalo and Detroit.
Panthers wide receiver James Shaw was able to play in Thursday's preseason game against the Ravens despite an undisclosed injury. He accrued no stats in the game.
The Panthers were without wide receivers Domenik Hixon (hamstring) and James Shaw (undisclosed) for Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, the second straight game each has missed. Hixon is battling for a backup receiver job, but might not make his preseason debut until Week 3 of the preseason against the Ravens.
