The Bills claimed WR Justin Brown , the team announced on Tuesday morning. Brown was released by the Steelers on Dec. 30. The Steelers selected Brown in the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma. He spent two seasons with the team, appearing in 8 games, all in the 2014 season. Brown has 12 career catches for 94 yards.
The Steelers announced they signed free agent running back Ben Tate, and he's expected to be in uniform Saturday night when Pittsburgh hosts Baltimore in the playoffs. The Steelers needed a running back with Le'Veon Bell looking unlikely to play. Bell sustained a hyperextended knee Sunday night against the Bengals. Tate joins Josh Harris and Dri Archer in the backfield after playing eight games for the Browns and Vikings this year. To make room on the roster, Pittsburgh released wideout Justin Brown. The Steelers are 3-point favorites over the Ravens.
The Steelers have listed the following players as inactive for Sunday night's Week 17 showdown with the Bengals: cornerback Ike Taylor (shoulder, forearm), safety Troy Polamalu (knee), tight end Michael Palmer (groin), quarterback Landry Jones, wide receiver Justin Brown, defensive end Clifton Geathers and guard Chris Hubbard. Taylor, Polamalu and Palmer were all listed as questionable to play Sunday but none of the three will be available for the regular-season finale. The three players listed as probable to play in Week 17 are all active, including tackle Kelvin Beachum (back), tight end Matt Spaeth (elbow) and linebacker Vince Williams (ankle). Pittsburgh is a 3 1/2-point favorite at home against Cincinnati.
