Richardson has reached an injury settlement with the Chargers. Richardson has bounced around the league since going undrafted in 2013 out of Jackson State. It remains to be known what sort of injury he is dealing with, though, but he's now a free agent and will likely look to to sign with another team when he returns to full health.
The Chargers have placed Richardson (undisclosed) on the waived/injured list Thursday, ESPN's Eric Williams reports. Richardson signed on with San Diego less than two weeks ago, but suffered an unspecified injury during practice shortly thereafter and was forced from playing in the Chargers' preseason opener. If he clears waivers, he could be stashed on the team's injured reserve.
Richardson was promoted to the Titans' active roster Saturday, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean. With Harry Douglas (ribs) unable to go Sunday for a second straight week, Richardson was brought up from the Titans' practice squad. He will serve as the team's fourth receiver in Week 8.
The Titans declared quarterback Zach Mettenberger (shoulder), defensive back Jemea Thomas, linebacker Dontay Moch, offensive tackles Taylor Lewan (ankle) and Terren Jones (concussion), wideout Rico Richardson and defensive end Ropati Pitoitua inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts. Quarterback Charlie Whitehurst will make his second straight start.
The Titans have promoted wideout Rico Richardson from their practice squad to take the place on the roster of running back Dexter McCluster, who has been placed on IR. Richardson has yet to play a snap in a regular season game.
