Robinson (leg) was cleared to begin jogging Wednesday. Robinson received a modest workload from game-to-game until he broke his tibia in Week 8, totaling 56 carries for 180 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 17 catches (on 20 targets) for 115 yards, as he hauled in multiple balls in six of eight games. As a restricted free agent, any offer that he receives in the coming months could be matched by a Saints squad that has running backs Mark Ingram, C.J. Spiller, and Marcus Murphy already under contract.
The Saints placed Robinson (leg) on injured reserve Tuesday, NOLA.com reports. This move was primarily procedural, as the Saints already ruled Robinson out for the season but needed to open up a roster spot. With Robinson done for the rest of the year, there will be some snaps up for grabs in the Saints backfield.
Robinson underwent surgery to repair a broken tibia Sunday night and will miss the remainder of this season. Robison was carted off during Sunday's win over the Giants with what initially appeared to be a serious leg injury. With confirmation of a leg fracture coming Monday, it's off little surprise that Robinson's season is over. Still, his absence is certainly a blow to the Saints' backfield, as Robinson already posted a career-best four touchdowns through eight games. In wake of Robinson's injury, expect C.J. Spiller to receive more touches in relief of starter Mark Ingram, with Marcus Murphy representing the only other running back currently on the Saints' roster.
Robinson was carted off the field Sunday against the Giants with an undisclosed injury. Because the Saints' training staff placed an air cast on Robinson's right leg, the injury appears to be significant, though the nature was unknown in the immediate aftermath. The do-everything back contributed four carries for four yards and two catches (on two targets) for 13 yards before his departure.
Saints running back Khiry Robinson rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries Sunday against the Colts. Robinson now has four scores in just 52 carries. But Mark Ingram is still the man in New Orleans, boasting nearly twice as many carries as Robinson this season.
