The Lions announced several practice squad roster moves on Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press. The team signed the following players to the practice squad: Tight end Jordan Thompson, cornerback Trevin Wade and defensive tackle Roy Philon.
The Lions have released safety Jerome Couplin and tight end Jordan Thompson . Couplin has played just 12 snaps on defense this season, while Thompson has played 19 snaps on offense over the last two weeks.
The Lions are nearly certain to be sans three tight ends for their Sunday game against Atlanta. Both Eric Ebron (hamstring) and Joseph Fauria (ankle) have been ruled out while starter Brandon Pettigrew (foot) has been designated as doubtful. Their absences could launch Jordan Thompson into the starting role. He was recently signed off the practice squad. Fullback Jed Collins could also earn some reps at tight end.
The Lions placed linebacker Travis Lewis (quad) on injured reserve Saturday. The team replaced Lewis on the active roster with tight end Jordan Thompson, who was signed from the practice squad.
The Lions have signed tight end Jordan Thompson , the official team website reported. He didn't play last season after going undrafted out of Ohio. Over four years with the Bobcats he snared 60 catches for 666 yards and six touchdowns.
