McDougle was promoted to the Jets' active roster on Saturday, Ralph Vacchiano of Sportsnet New York reports. McDougle was promoted due to the Jets possibly being without both Buster Skrine (knee) and Marcus Williams (ankle) in Week 10. He's unlikely to be much more than a depth corner and special teams player.
McDougle was waived by the Jets on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. McDougle was originally drafted in the third round of the 2014 draft, but his rookie season was quickly derailed by a torn ACL. The Jets had hoped that McDougle would rebound in 2015, but the 25-year-old never seemed to return to his old self after the injury.
McDougle (hamstring) did not participate in Thursday's practice, Eric Allen of the team's official site reports. The Jets drafted McDougle back in 2014 with the expectation that he could soon be a cornerstone of the team's secondary. Unfortunately, a torn ACL and other minor injuries have plagued their plans. Rookie Juston Burris and Darryl Morris are likely to see increased reps during his absence.
According to the team's official website, the following players are not expected to dress for the Jets Friday night against the Giants: Dimitri Patterson, Jalen Saunders, Dee Milliner, Dexter McDougle, IK Enemkpali, Jeff Cumberland, Antwan Barnes.
The following players will not dress for the Jets against the Bengals Saturday night: Wide receiver Eric Decker, tight end Jeff Cumberland, wide receiver Shaq Evans, tackle Markus Zusevics, cornerback Dexter McDougle, running back Chris Ivory, cornerback Dee Milliner, cornerback Dimitri Patterson and wide reciever Jalen Saunders.
