The Eagles trimmed their roster to 76 players Saturday, as they announced the waiving of 14 players. Among those waived are: wide receivers Kadron Boone and B.J. Cunningham; tight ends Emil Igwenagu and Blake Annen; offensive lineman Michael Bamiro, Karim Barton and Donald Hawkins; linebacker Jake Knott; defensive backs Daytawion Lowe and Davon Morgan; defensive linemen Joe Kruger, Frances Mays and Alejandro Villanueva; and kicker Carey Spear. The team still has to make one more cut before Tuesday.
Eagles kicker Alex Henery has held off Carey Spear to keep his job, reports The Press of Atlantic City. Coach Chip Kelly said Henery is "clearly ahead" of the undrafted rookie.
Eagles kicker Alex Henery, coming off his worst season, faces competition from undrafted signee Carey Spear, reports The News Journal. Spear made 35 of 43 field goals at Vanderbilt the past two seasons. Henery made a career-low 82.1 percent of his field goals last season (23 of 28) and struggled to boot the ball out of the end zone on kickoffs.
