Flynn will sign with the Saints, as season-ending back surgery is imminent for Luke McCown, Christopher Dabe of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. After an evaluation of McCown's lower back Monday, surgery was ordered up for the veteran quarterback, opening the door for Flynn to join the Saints. For his career, Flynn boasts a 61-percent completion percentage, 2,541 passing yards, and a 17:11 touchdown-to-interception ratio in 51 appearances.
Quarterback Matt Flynn will work out for the Cowboys on Tuesday, The Dallas Morning News reports. Flynn will be joined by quarterbacks Christian Ponder and Josh Johnson. The team hasn't yet decided who Brandon Weeden's backup will be while Tony Romo (broken collarbone) is out, but if none of the veterans impress them, Kellen Moore could also be activated from the practice squad.
