The Bengals have released defensive end Robert Geathers and wide receiver Greg Little, the team announced Friday. Geathers played all 16 games with the team in 2014, totaling 21 tackles with one sack and one interception. In his 11-year career in Cincinnati, Geathers has totaled 325 tackles with 34 sacks and three interceptions. Little signed on with the Bengals halfway through the 2014 season, playing in six games, totaling six catches for 69 yards.
Bengals defensive end Robert Geathers, the team's longest-tenured player, admitted he might not be back with Cincy in 2015, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer. Geathers, 31, recorded just one sack this season. He has one year left on his deal, and the team would save more than $3 million by releasing him. Geathers, who has spent his entire 11-year career with the Bengals, has totaled 34 sacks, six forced fumbles and three interceptions.
The Bengals have signed defensive tackle Kwame Geathers to their practice squad. He is the brother of Cincinnati defensive end Robert Geathers.
The Bengals will be without the services of linebackers Vontaze Burfict (knee) and Jayson DiManche (forearm) for Week 14 against Pittsburgh. Burfict and DiManche were the only two players ruled out for the game, but defensive end Margus Hunt (ankle) and wide receiver James Wright (knee) could join them come Sunday. Both Hunt and Wright were labeled as doubtful for the game. Meanwhile, defensive tackle Domata Peko (elbow) was the only player on the report deemed questionable, while defensive end Robert Geathers (hip), wide receiver A.J. Green (thigh), tight end Ryan Hewitt (illness), cornerback Adam Jones (concussion), tackle Marshall Newhouse (hip) and guard/center Mike Pollak (knee) were listed as probable.
As expected, the Bengals have ruled out linebacker Vontaze Burfict (knee) and defensive end Margus Hunt (ankle) for the Sunday game against Tampa Bay. The team is otherwise healthy. Linebacker Nico Johnson (illness) has been deemed questionable while defensive end Robert Geathers (toe), safety George Iloka (groin), wideout Greg Little (illness) and offensive lineman Mike Pollak (knee) are probable.
