The Saints placed safety Rafael Bush (chest) on injured reserve Tuesday, ESPN.com reports. Bush's season is over due to the chest injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. With Jairus Byrd (knee) also injured, the Saints will turn to either Jamarca Sanford or Kenny Phillips at free safety for the time being.
The Saints have re-signed safety Jamarca Sanford to a one-year deal on Friday, according to hi agent Drew Rosenhaus, per Pro Football Talk. Sanford was due to become a free agent on Tuesday before New Orleans locked him down. Details of the contract were not made public at the time. Sanford, 29, registered 10 tackles in New Orleans' season finale against Tampa Bay last season. He finished the year with 16 tackles and two stuffs between the Redskins and Saints last year. He has one sack and two interceptions over his six-year NFL career.
Saints tackle Terron Armstead will miss Week 17 against the Buccaneers with a neck injury. It will be Armstead's second straight game out with the injury. Defensive tackle John Jenkins is listed as questionable with an abdomen injury and did not practice Friday. Safety Jamarca Sanford (hamstring) and tackle Zach Strief (neck) are both listed as probable for the game. The Saints are currently 4-point favorites against the Bucs.
