Nugent made all four extra point attempts and his only field goal opportunity in Sunday night's loss to the Cardinals. The field goal was a bit of a bitter fruit for the team, however. It came in lieu of a touchdown on the Bengals' final drive, and allowed the Cardinals enough time to drive down and score the game-winning field goal. Nugent is now 14-of-17 on field goal attempts this season.
Mike Nugent kicked a 42-yard field goal in overtime to complete the Bengals' comeback win over the Seahawks on Sunday. Nugent's game-winner was banked off the left upright. He earlier tied the game in regulation as time ran out. He's 5-for-7 on field goals this season, and 17-for-18 on extra points.
The Bengals agreed to a two-year contract worth $4 million with kicker Mike Nugent on Sunday, a source told NFL.com. Of the $4 million, $250,000 of it can be earned through incentives each year. In 2014, Nugent connected on 26 of his 33 field-goal attempts. The team officially announced the signing on Monday. "I'm excited to have Mike back with us," said special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons. "Mike dealt with some tough issues last season (including the death of his father), but he finished the year strong, and we're looking for him to pick up where he left off. Also this means we'll have our specialist trio back, with (snapper) Clark Harris and (holder) Kevin Huber, and keeping the continuity with those guys working as a unit is a big asset for us."
Bengals kicker Mike Nugent set a franchise record Sunday, hitting a 57-yard field goal in his team's 26-10 Wild Card loss to the Colts. Nugent was called upon to try the lengthy field goal at the end of the first half, and he was able to graze the inside of the goalpost and send the record kick through the uprights. It was also a career-long field goal for the 11-year veteran, besting his previous long of 55 yards. He added an extra point in the game as well.
Bengals kicker Mike Nugent made just one of his two field-goal attempts in Sunday night's 27-17 loss to the Steelers in Week 17. Nugent was able to nail a 39-yard field goal early in the second quarter, but after a Bengals drive stalled to open the second half, he was wide right on a 50-yard attempt. The kicker ends the regular season with 26 field goals on 33 attempts, but he hadn't missed since Week 6 before Sunday's season finale. Nugent will kick indoors in the first round of the playoffs as the Bengals head to Indianapolis to face the Colts.
