    The Texans have confirmed that strong safety Danieal Manning has announced his retirement. Manning played for Houston over the last four seasons after five years with Chicago. He started five of the 16 games he played in last year and contributed to 32 tackles. He finishes his career with 11 interceptions, but none since 2012.

    The Texans enter their Week 14 clash against the Jaguars relatively healthy, with 13 of 16 players on the final injury report deemed probable. Those players include: Tackle Tyson Clabo (foot), inside linebacker Brian Cushing (knee), tight end Anthony Denham (illness), inside linebacker Akeem Dent (neck), running back Arian Foster (groin), running back Jonathan Grimes (ankle), cornerback Kareem Jackson (knee), wide receiver Andre Johnson (rest), cornerback Johnathan Joseph (ankle), punter Shane Lechler (biceps), tackle Derek Newton (knee) and nose tackle Ryan Pickett (back).Safety Danieal Manning (hamstring) was the only player on the report deemed questionable, while tight end Garrett Graham (ankle) and outside linebacke Jadeveon Clowney (knee) were ruled out. Clowney's disappointing rookie season has come to an end this week, as the team placed him on season-ending injured reserve and will undergo another surgery on his right knee.

    Bengals make flurry of moves Saturday

    The Bengals made a slew of moves Saturday to pare their roster down to the required 53 for the regular season. Among those moves was the placement of guard Trey Hopkins on the reserve/injured list with a leg issue. Rookie quarterback AJ McCarron was put on the reserve/non-football injury list with a shoulder problem. The Bengals also cut the following offensive players: tackles Dan France and Will Svitek, wide receivers Colin Lockett and Cobi Hamilton, center Trevor Robinson and running backs James Wilder and Nikita Whitlock. Defenders waived by the Bengals include safety Danieal Manning, cornerbacks Onterio McCalebb and Victor Hampton, tackles Devon Still and David King and ends Sam Montgomery and Dontay Moch. Cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris will begin serving a two-game drug suspension handed dowsn by the league.

    Strong safety Danieal Manning, who was considered a possible starter for the Bengals upon his signing in April, will not even make the team, according to USA Today. Manning had been a full-time starter in the NFL until a broken leg all but wrecked his 2013 season.

    Danieal Manning could start for Bengals

    Newly-signed Danieal Manning could start at safety for the Bengals opposite Reggie Nelson, reports the team's website. An eight-year vet who'll turn 32 in training camp, Manning also could handle some kickoff returns. "I am not going to lie, one reason that played a part in me coming here was I had seen the role that they had continuing to knock on the playoff door," said Manning, who spent the last three seasons with the Texans. "I had seen this was a team that I would potentially love to play with if I ever had the opportunity to come to free agency. My prayers were answered. I'm just ecstatic and elated to be a part of the organization."
