Cardinals won't sign veteran to push Jerraud Powers and Justin Bethel

Cardinals defensive backs Jerraud Powers and Justin Bethel will battle for the right cornerback spot in OTAs and preseason training camp. Coach Bruce Arians would like to add another corner to the depth chart, after Antonio Cromartie left via free agency, but Powers and Bethel don't need to worry about veteran competition, per ESPN. "Not at all," Arians said of the possibility of a veteran signing. "I'd really like to add a young one -- a young, long, fast one because I think we have enough depth with the guys we have."

Cardinals DST holds Chargers under 300 yards

The Cardinals DST did a nice job limiting the Chargers offensively in Monday's 18-17 win, but the unit came up with very few big plays. Arizona held San Diego to 290 total yards and just 2.2 yards per carry. Cornerback Jerraud Powers intercepted Philip Rivers on a crossing route, his eighth career interception. Arizona recorded no sacks and was unable to recover a Rivers fumble. The Cardinals DST has a chance to create more turnovers Week 2 when it visits the Giants.
