49ers' Bruce Miller pleads no contest to domestic-violence charge

49ers fullback Bruce Miller was ordered to undergo counseling after he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor domestic-violence charge Wednesday, authorities said. Miller was charged after he involved in an incident with his then-fiancee in March at a Santa Clara shopping plaza, reports the San Jose Mercury News. With Miller having no previous criminal record, prosecutors felt counseling would be best instead of jail time. "With domestic-violence situations, our office takes them very seriously, knowing they can escalate quite quickly," Deputy district attorney Tyrone Wilson said. "We wanted to make sure the disposition we crafted was one that considered his lack of criminal history and how he took early responsibility. The conflict counseling will ensure he has better tools to deal with this in the future."
