    Buccaneers' Alterraun Verner: Active Sunday

Verner (foot) is listed as active Sunday versus the Cowboys, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Verner is coming off his most productive contest of the season, which included eight solo tackles and one interception of Eli Manning last Sunday. In Week 10, Verner will seek to replicate that line against Matt Cassel.

Buccaneers' Alterraun Verner: Probable for Sunday

Verner is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Despite his sizable contract and league-wide reputation, Verner is merely working as the nickelback in one of the NFL's worst secondaries. He'll presumably be released at the end of the season.

Buccaneers' Alterraun Verner: Gets in limited practice Thursday

Verner (foot) was able to practice on a limited basis Thursday, Joe Kania of the Buccaneers' official site reports. It was an upgrade in activity level and a positive sign overall for the veteran corner, who had missed Wednesday's session entirely. Verner's play over the last several weeks has certainly been an improvement over his early-season performances, and his veteran savvy would come in particularly handy in a Week 10 matchup versus a very salty Dez Bryant. Friday's practice report should provide an even clearer indication of Verner's status for Sunday.

Buccaneers' Alterraun Verner: Misses practice Wednesday

Verner (foot) missed practice Wednesday, Joe Kania of the Buccaneers official site reports. Verner has considerably picked up his play in recent weeks, but may be in danger of missing Tampa's Week 10 tilt against the Cowboys. The sixth-year pro's injury stems from the Bucs' Week 9 loss to the Giants, and could provide Sterling Moore with an opportunity to start in Week 10. Verner's status will be updated after Thursday's practice session.

Buccaneers' Alterraun Verner: Totals eight tackles and interception in Week 9 loss

Verner posted eight tackles (all solo) and snatched an interception in Sunday's 32-18 loss to the Giants. Verner undeniably struggled early in the season, to the extent that he was temporarily displaced from his starting left cornerback position. However, the sixth-year pro has regained his job and has been a different player overall over the last four weeks, tallying 24 tackles (19 solo), a tackle for loss, a half sack, and the interception he snatched Sunday. The pick was his first since Nov. 30 of last year versus the Bengals, and came when Verner stepped in front of an Eli Manning pass intended for Odell Beckham, Jr. Verner and the rest of the Bucs secondary face another tough challenge in the form of Dez Bryant in their Week 10 tilt against the Cowboys.

Buccaneers CB Alterraun Verner optimistic for Week 12

Buccaneers cornerback Alterraun Verner (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's Week 12 matchup with the Bears, but he's optimistic he'll be cleared to play, reports. "I feel good," he said after getting a limited practice in Friday. "Had a good week and was able to do a lot of things and hopefully they give me the green light to go this week. I was able to open up a lot more this week and I'm looking forward to hopefully being out there this week." Verner has missed each of the team's last two games, but the Buccaneers defense surrendered 220 passing yards or less to each of the two starting quarterbacks they faced during that stretch.
