49ers' Phil Dawson: Nails four field goals in win

Dawson converted all four of his field goal attempts, including the game-winner in Sunday's 19-16 overtime win over the Rams. This was only the second time Dawson had attempted four field goals this whole season. The 49ers' stagnant offense limited his opportunities to score this season, but Dawson took care of his end and converted 24-of-17 attempts (two were blocked). He will be a free agent this offseason, but proved that he can still get it done even as a 40-year-old. Retirement would be the only reason Dawson isn't kicking for an NFL team next season.

49ers' Phil Dawson: Makes one, misses one

Dawson was good from 40, but missed a 45-yard attempt in Sunday's 32-17 loss to the Lions. While he is officially 20-for-23 on the year, this was Dawson's first missed field goal that wasn't a result of a block. They 49ers' stagnant offense has limited his field goal attempts this year, and that won't change next week against a stingy St. Louis defense.

49ers' Phil Dawson: Has kick blocked in loss

Dawson had his only field goal attempt blocked in Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Bengals. Dawson's only two misses this season have been due to blocked kicks. If he was a kicker for a more potent offense, he would have the potential to be a top-10 option with his accuracy (19-of-19 on unobstructed kicks). Unfortunately he plays for an inconsistent offense and has a low ceiling for fantasy value.

49ers' Phil Dawson: Hits only attempt in loss

Dawson was good for 44 and converted his only PAT in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Browns. Dawson was perfect against his former team, but his fantasy day was limited by the 49ers' inconsistent offense yet again. With a tough matchup against the Bengals on the horizon, Dawson shouldn't be considered a top kicking option for week 15.

49ers' Phil Dawson: Does not attempt field goal

Dawson turned in his worse performance of the year, failing to attempt a field goal and missing one of his three extra points in Sunday's overtime win over the Bears. The PAT was actually blocked, so that is more the fault of Dawson's protection than it is his accuracy. The lack of field goal attempts was also not his doing, as kickers are completely game-flow dependent. The 49ers have a favorable matchup against the Browns and should be able to move the ball down the field, making Dawson a decent play next week.

49ers' Phil Dawson: Perfect in loss

Dawson hit from both 33 and 53 yards in Sunday's 19-13 loss to Arizona. In a year of inconsistency from the kicker position, Dawson continues to deliver on a weekly basis. He hasn't been a high-volume scorer (16-of-17 on field goals this year), but he has definitely been a safe option. Soldier Field is never an easy place to kick in, but Dawson has delivered all season, so it is hard to expect anything different in next week's matchup.

49ers' Phil Dawson: Connects on only attempt

Dawson connected on his only field goal attempt in Thursday's loss to the Seahawks. Dawson's 35-yard field goal was all the offense the 49ers could muster Thursday. This was a perfect example of why it is hard to trust Dawson on a weekly basis due to San Francisco's inability to move the ball on offense.

49ers' Phil Dawson: Perfect on all four attempts

Dawson was prefect on all four of his field goal attempts Sunday, connecting from 26, 31, 42, and 53 yards in the 25-20 win over Baltimore. Dawson's value has been suppressed all season due to a stagnant San Francisco offense. That wasn't a problem Sunday, as Dawson was put in position to have a big fantasy day. Next week's opposing defense (Seattle) may not be as forgiving as Baltimore's, which should limit the 40-year-old's attempts.

49ers' Phil Dawson: Hits both attempts

Dawson hit both of his field goal attempts (22, 43) along with three PATs in the loss to the Giants. Dawson has been a low-end kicker this season due to the 49ers' inability to move the ball into their opponent's territory. Still, he is a safe kicking option, as he is pretty much automatic from under 50 yards, which is more than can be said about the wave of new kickers who entered the league this year.

49ers kicker Phil Dawson hits only field goal attempt Sunday

49ers kicker Phil Dawson hit his only field goal attempt (33 yards) in Sunday's 17-3 loss to the Packers. Dawson continues to see his scoring opportunities shrink on a weekly basis as the 49ers' offense struggles to move the ball into opponents' territory. Despite his accuracy, it would be wise to look at other kicking options until San Francisco's offense shows some semblance of consistency.
