    Bears cut LB Mason Foster

    In a somewhat surprising move, the Bears released linebacker Mason Foster as part of their roster cuts Saturday to get down to the NFL-mandated 53 men, per a team release. The Bears signed Foster in the offseason, and he provided a veteran presence in a reserve role after starting 54 games for the Buccaneers. But he was apparently beaten out by fellow backer John Timu.

    Report: Bears sign LB Mason Foster

    The Bears have signed linebacker Mason Foster on Tuesday, according to CSN Chicago. Foster, 26, was said to be deciding between the Bears and the Chargers. During his four seasons with the Buccaneers, he posted 343 total tackles, six sacks, 12 passes defensed, three interceptions and two forced fumbles. Two of his three interceptions were returned for touchdowns.

    Buccaneers linebacker Mason Foster injured his Achilles tendon and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Packers. Foster injured the tendon in the first half of the game and was able to walk off under his own power.
