    Report: Lions waive CB Bill Bentley

    The Lions waived cornerback Bill Bentley on Thursday, according to the Detroit Free Press. Bentley was returning from a torn ACL sustained during the first week of the 2014 season. Bentley was selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Lions out of Louisiana-Lafayette. Bentley was competing for the nickelback role in the secondary.

    Lions cornerback Bill Bentley, a third-round pick in 2012, found a home as a slot corner this season and hopes to stay there under the new coaching staff, whenever it is named. Bentley played outside as a rookie. "We'll find out when the new coaches come in where they'd like me to be at, but I definitely love the inside," Bentley said.     Bill Bentley exits Week 16 with head injury

    Lions cornerback Bill Bentley was forced out of Sunday's game against the Giants in Week 16 with a head injury.Bentley was involved in a collision with fellow safety Louis Delmas during a Jerrel Jernigan touchdown catch in the end zone late in the second quarter. He was taken back to the locker room for a possible concussion test. He was out for the remainder of the game.Bentley had just one total tackle before getting hurt.
