Buccaneers cut five to get down to 75 players
The Buccaneers cut five players Tuesday to get down to the NFL-mandated 75-man limit, with the biggest name being punter Michael Koenen. Tampa Bay decided to go with first-year punter Jacob Schum over the veteran Koenen. The rest of the Bucs' cuts include guard Josh Allen, WR Robert Herron and corner Leonard Johnson. Defensive tackle Akeem Spence was placed on the PUP list.

Buccaneers re-sign DB Leonard Johnson to one-year deal
The Buccaneers re-signed nickel back Leonard Johnson, a restricted free agent, to a one-year deal, reports the Tampa Bay Times. He had 45 tackles, three forced fumbles and an interception while playing every game last season.

Lawrence Johnson keys Week 12 taming of Lions

Leonard Johnson leads with nine stops
Buccaneers cornerback Leonard Johnson had an excellent game Week 1 during a loss at the Jets. Johnson led the way for the Bucs with nine total tackles. With eight of Johnson's tackles coming of the solo variety, he included a pass defended in his effort. Johnson and the Bucs take on the Saints at home Week 2.

Johnson involved in two fumbles
Buccaneers defensive back Leonard Johnson made a big play late in the first quarter Week 16 against the Rams, forcing a fumble on a hard hit to wide receiver Danny Amendola and recovering it himself. He subsequently committed his own fumble, returning possession to the Rams. Johnson also had five tackles, all solo, on the day.
