49ers' Blaine Gabbert: Solid in loss at Seattle

Gabbert completed 22 of 34 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-13 loss at Seattle. He also ran four times for 22 yards. Gabbert played well in San Francisco's Week 9 win over Atlanta, leading them to a surprising victory. Things played out a little differently Sunday against the Legion of Boom, although Gabbert looked more than adequate as San Francisco's new starting QB, making several nice throws in and out of the pocket. With Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) on season-ending IR, Gabbert won't have to look over his shoulder each week. Next up for the 49ers will be another tough test against Arizona.

49ers' Blaine Gabbert: Will start after Week 10 bye

Gabbert will continue to serve as the starting quarterback out of the 49ers' Week 10 bye, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports. Under center in place of Colin Kaepernick on Sunday against the Falcons, Gabbert acquitted himself well in his first start since 2013, completing 15 of 25 passes for 185 for two touchdowns. He also tossed two picks, but of utmost importance, the 49ers boasted some balance, augmenting the passing game with 133 yards on the ground. Expect Gabbert to be under center on Nov. 22 at Seattle.

49ers' Blaine Gabbert: Throws for two scores against Falcons

Gabbert completed 15-of-25 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's win over Atlanta. He added 32 yards on the ground on eight carries. Gabbert looked good early, connecting with his receivers on a handful of back-shoulder throws and finding his tight end Garrett Celek in the end zone twice. He unraveled a bit in the second half, tossing two picks, one off of a deflection and another on an underthrow. Gabbert has now thrown multiple interceptions in each of his last four starts dating back to 2013. His propensity for throwing picks and role presiding over a mediocre San Francisco offense makes him a high-risk, low-reward option wading in the free-agency pool.

49ers' Blaine Gabbert: Not named starter beyond Week 9

49ers head coach Jim Tomsula did not say whether Gabbert will continue to start at quarterback after the upcoming bye week, CSN Bay Area reports. "Gabbert was our starter today," Tomsula said. "And I don't have a comment past that." Gabbert got his first start since 2013 in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons, completing 15 of 25 passes for 185 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He probably played well enough to keep the job for a second game, but it's still possible the 49ers will want to give Colin Kaepernick another shot. San Francisco has a Week 10 bye, followed by games against the Seahawks (Week 11) and Cardinals (Week 12).

49ers' Blaine Gabbert: Takes over as 49ers' quarterback

Gabbert will start Sunday against the Falcons in place of Colin Kaepernick, Kyle McLorg of Bay Area Sports Guy reports. Kaepernick struggled mightily in the 49ers' last two games, so the coaching staff decided to make a change at the quarterback position, and give Gabbert the nod Sunday. For those looking for a Kaepernick replacement, Gabbert played well during the preseason, but he has appeared in just four games since 2012 and owns a 53.2 completion percentage and 23:24 TD:INT ratio in 29 career games.
