Cardinals CB Alfonzo Dennard: Release from Patriots 'shocking'

Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard is now with the Cardinals, but he has given one minor parting shot to the Patriots, from whom he considers his recent release stunning. "It was shocking, because I thought I did everything right," he told the Cardinals team website. "I guess they had other plans and I wasn't in it. But I'm happy to be here with the Cardinals." Dennard wasn't alone among secondary personnel dumped by New England this offseason. Kyle Arrington was also released. Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, meanwhile, left via free agency. But Dennard had been a starter pretty much since he was drafted despite his status as a seventh-round pick. A hamstring injury ended his 2014 season after six games.
