    Lions claim DT Jerel Worthy off waivers

    The Lions have claimed defensive tackle Jerel Worthy off of waivers from the Chiefs, the team announced on Tuesday. Worthy was waived by Kansas City on Monday. Worthy has been burdened with injuries early on in his career, playing just 16 games in his first three seasons in the league. He has 2 1/2 sacks and 15 tackles in his brief career.

    Chiefs waive DT Jerel Worthy

    The Chiefs announced Monday they have waived defensive tackle Jerel Worthy, whom the team signed to its practice squad in October. Worthy played in 14 games in 2012 with the Packers, but tore his ACL in Week 17 of that season and has only played in two games since then.

    Chiefs re-sign Jerel Worthy to practice squad

    Just a few days after being waived from the practice squad, the Chiefs have added defensive lineman Jerel Worthy back to the practice squad on Saturday, per ESPN. Worthy, who suffered a torn ACL in 2012 and spent most of the 2013 season on the PUP list, has yet to take a snap this season.

    The Patriots released a mix of veterans and rookies Saturday in cutting their roster down to the required 53. The offensive players now gone are wide receivers Jeremy Gallon and Josh Boyce, tight end Steve Maneri, linemen Chris Martin, Jon Halapio and Braxston Cave and running backs Roy Finch and Jonas Gray. Cut from the defensive side are linebackers Taylor McCuller, Ja'Gared Davis and Steve Beauharnais, linemen Eathyn Manumaleuna, L.T. Tuipulotu, Jake Bequette and Jerel Worthy and defensive backs Shamiel Gary, Kanorris Davis and Dax Swanson.

    Patriots trade for Jerel Worthy

    The Patriots have traded for Packers defensive end Jerel Worthy, according to Worthy is a former second-round pick, but the Patriots are only sending a late-round pick to the Packers for the lineman. Worthy picked up 2.5 sacks during his rookie season, but was limited to just two games last season.
