Cardinals cut 13, place another on IR

The Cardinals have announced the release of 13 players. They are safeties Jonathon Amaya and Curtis Taylor, guards Senio Kelemete and Chilo Rachal, wide receivers Mike Thomas, Charles Hawkins and Dan Buckner, linebackers Zack Nash and Colin Parker, tight ends Alex Gottlieb and Richard Quinn, center Adam Bice and defensive tackle David Carter. • Amaya added by Dolphins

News: Miami signed linebacker Mike Rivera and safety Jonathon Amaya on Tuesday, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The Dolphins released guard Ray Feinga and safety Troy Nolan to make room.
Analysis: Amaya spent the 2010 season with the Dolphins so the team is familiar with his play. He has low-end Fantasy value in IDP formats.
  • Amaya sent to the Saints

News: The Saints and Dolphins were able to strike a deal Thursday, as RB Reggie Bush ended up in Miami -- sending reserve safety Jonathon Amaya to New Orleans in return along with an exchange of undisclosed draft picks.
Analysis: The Saints hope Amaya can contribute as a punt returner. He signed with Miami as an undrafted rookie free agent last year and played in 10 games, all off the bench. Amaya was able to rack up 15 tackles last season while playing special teams, a role he should be able to build upon in New Orleans. Fantasy owners should not consider him to be an option of any kind on Draft Day.
  • Amaya signed by Dolphins

News: Miami signed safety Jonathon Amaya on Saturday and placed fullback Deon Anderson on the Reserve/Injured list.
Analysis: Amaya is not expected to produce enough on the field on Sundays to matter in Fantasy IDP leagues. Leave him off rosters at this time.
  • Dolphins have practice squad

News: Miami reported the make up of its practice squad on Monday and it is as follows: S Jonathan Amaya, DE Ryan Baker, G Ray Feinga, LB Chris McCoy, TE Nathan Overbay, WR Julius Pruitt and LB Austin Spitler. The Dolphins can sign one more player.
Analysis: The players listed above will help Miami prepare for games on Sunday. They do not figure to see much of the field this year and can be left off Fantasy rosters.
  • Dolphins make cuts

News: The Dolphins released the following players Saturday: S Jonathon Amaya, DT Ryan Baker, DE Lionel Dotson, LB J.D. Folsom, CB Kevin Hobbs, FB Rolly Lumbala, LB Chris McCoy, DB Nate Ness, WR Julius Pruitt, LB Austin Spitler , LB Erik Walden and S Ross Weaver.
Analysis: None of these players were expected to make much of an impact in 2010. Ignore them in all leagues this season.
