Former Ravens DL Terrence Cody indicted for animal cruelty

The Baltimore County police announced Monday former Ravens defensive tackle Terrence Cody has been indicted for animal cruelty, according to The Baltimore Sun. He was processed and released on $10,000 bail. Cody, who had his contract terminated by the Ravens on Monday, was indicted by a Baltimore County grand jury. It was reported a few weeks ago Cody was under investigation for animal cruelty. At the time, Cody's agent -- Peter Schaffer -- told FOX Sports his client's dog died due to worms. "If this affects at all my client's ability to get a job, I'm going to do everything in my legal power to protect his rights," Schaffer said in late January.

    Ravens officially cut Terrence Cody

The Baltimore Ravens terminated defensive tackle Terrence Cody's contract on Monday, ending his five-year run with the organization that drafted him. The Ravens announced a week ago that they were releasing Cody, who was slated to become a free agent this offseason. However, The Baltimore Sun reported Cody is being investigated on a count of animal cruelty and that this could have played into the Ravens' decision to part ways. Cody was a second-round selection in the 2010 draft out of Alabama, where he earned the nickname Mount Cody due to his enormous size. However, he never panned out in Baltimore. Cody ends his Ravens tenure with 87 tackles and zero sacks.

The Ravens are aware of the allegations against Cody. Cody's agent, Peter Schaffer, told FOX Sports his client's dog died due to worms. "If this affects at all my client's ability to get a job, I'm going to do everything in my legal power to protect his rights," Schaffer said.
