Ravens FB Kyle Juszczyk catches first touchdown of season

Ravens fullback Kyle Juszczyk caught three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 loss to the Browns. Juszczyk gets a lot of targets for a fullback, but he still doesn't have a carry in his career. He's on pace for a 35-234-3 receiving line, after posting a 19-182-1 line last season.

Ravens to use committee approach at tight end

With tight end Dennis Pitta out for the season following hip surgery, the Ravens will use a committee to replace him, reports The website expects tight end Owen Daniels, fullback Kyle Juszczyk and receiver Marlon Brown to assume larger roles in Pitta's absence. Daniels is in his ninth season with offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, and "he's also gained the trust of Joe Flacco with his toughness over the middle," the report said. But Daniels doesn't gain much separation anymore and has missed 26 games over the past five seasons, the website added.

Kyle Juszczyk grabs spotlight in defeat of Browns

Ravens heretofore unknown fullback Kyle Juszczyk is no longer unknown, thanks to a notable performance Sunday in Cleveland. Juszczyk made his first impact by burning the unsuspecting Browns with a wide-open snag for a 9-yard touchdown to turn a 7-3 deficit into a 10-7 lead midway through the second quarter. He later raced 32 yards on a screen off a misdirection play to start a touchdown drive that again put Baltimore ahead. He lined up often at tight end in the absence of injured Dennis Pitta. He finished with three catches for 54 yards. Juszczyk will seek to take his momentum and run with it in Week 4 against the visiting Panthers.

Anthony Allen among victims of Ravens' cuts

The Ravens have released running back Anthony Allen in their round of cuts on Friday, according to the Baltimore Sun. The other Ravens let go were cornerback Marc Anthony, linebackers Nigel Carr and Brandon Copeland, running back Delone Carter, quarterback Dayne Crist, offensive tackles Jordan Devey and Rogers Gaines, tight end Alex Silvestro and center Reggie Stephens. The Ravens also terminated the contract of quarterback Caleb Hanie and placed outside linebacker D.J. Bryant (ACL) on IR.

Fullback Kyle Juszczyk's hands better than his blocking?

Rookie fullback Kyle Juszczyk's hands have been a delight to Ravens coaches through minicamp but his blocking remains a question mark according to the official team website. That's because Juszczyk hasn't been allowed to hit during non-contact drills -- once the pads come on the coaches will have a better feel for his skills. They might not have much of a choice after the team cut veteran Vonta Leach earlier this offseason. Juszczyk has lined up in a number of places to haul in passes, a nice little change-up for the Ravens coaches to consider.
