    Troy Polamalu, Ryan Shazier among injured Steelers out Week 11

    The Steelers unveiled its final injury report for Monday night's game against the Titans in Week 11. Steve McLendon (shoulder), Troy Polamalu (knee), Ryan Shazier (ankle), Ivan Taylor (forearm), Shamarko Thomas (hamstring) were all ruled out by Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, Cortez Allen (thumb), Brett Keisel (not injury related), Arthur Moats (not injury related), Ross Ventrone (hamstring) were labeled probable for the game.

    Handful of Steelers out Sunday with injuries

    As expected, several key Steelers have been ruled out for the Sunday game against the Jets with injuries, including cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm), safety Troy Polamalu (knee) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle). Also injured and out are safeties Shamarko Thomas and Ross Ventrone, both with hamstring ailments. Guard Chris Hubbard and quarterback Landry Jones are the lone healthy scratches.

    Five ruled out by Steelers for Sunday game

    Safety Ross Ventrone (hamstring) has been added to the list of Steelers who have been ruled out for the Sunday game against the host Jets. He was limited in the last two practices. Already deemed out were fellow safeties Shamarko Thomas (hamstring), Troy Polamalu (knee), linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle) and cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm). The injury-related probables are linebacker Jason Worilds (abdomen) and wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring).

    Steelers list Week 9 inactives vs. Ravens

    The Steelers have listed the following players as inactive for Sunday night's Week 9 matchup with the Ravens: cornerbacks Ike Taylor (forearm) and B.W. Webb, safety Ross Ventrone (hamstring), quarterback Landry Jones, nose tackle Dan McCullers, guard Christopher Hubbard and wide receiver Justin Brown. Both Taylor and Ventrone had been ruled out on the team's final injury report of the week, so their absence is not a surprise. All nine players listed as probable to play are active for Sunday's game.

    Steelers head into Week 9 relatively healthy

    The Steelers listed 10 players on their final injury report leading up to Week 9 against the Ravens. Ike Taylor (forearm) and Ross Ventrone (hamstring) were both ruled out. Marcus Gilbert (concussion), Mike Mitchell (groin), Ryan Shazier (knee), Matt Spaeth (hamstring), Shamarko Thomas (hamstring), Brett Keisel (rest), Heath Miller (rest) and Troy Polamalu (rest) were all deemed probable for Sunday.

    Steelers promote S Ross Ventrone, dump C Wesley Johnson

    Safety Ross Ventrone has been promoted by the Steelers from their practice squad to their live roster. To make room, the team has waived center Wesley Johnson. Ventrone is in his second season with Pittsburgh, but has yet to play a down.

    Steelers unveil final round of preseason cuts

    The Steelers announced their final round of cuts to trim the roster to 53 players Saturday, as they parted ways with 22 players. The Steelers released defensive backs Isaiah Green, Dayonne Nunley, Shaquille Richardson and Ross Ventrone, linebackers Chris Carter, Howard Jones and Dan Molls, and defensive linemen Ethan Hemer, Josh Mauro, Roy Philon and Nick Williams on the defensive side of the ball. On offense, the team cut tight ends Rob Blanchflower, Bryce Davis and David Paulson, running backs Josh Harris and Stephen Houston, wide receivers Derek Moye and Lanear Sampson, offensive linemen Graham Pocic, Will Simmons and Guy Whimper, and quarter Brendon Kay.

    Steelers sign seven to futures contracts

    Seven Steelers who finished the season on the practice squad have been signed by the team to futures contracts. They are running back Alvester Alexander, wide receiver Justin Brown, offensive linemen Bryant Browning and Chris Hubbard, wide receiver Kashif Moore, safety Ross Ventrone and linebacker Kion Wilson.

    Steelers announce long list of cuts

    Jonathan Dwyer was the only surprising cut by the Steelers on Saturday. Here is the list of the others: punter Brian Moorman, running back Alvester Alexander, defensive linemen Alameda Ta'amu and Brian Arnfelt, linebackers Alan Baxter, Terence Garvin, Marshall McFadden and Brian Rolle, wide receivers Justin Brown, Reggie Dunn and Kashif Moore, offensive linemen Mike Golic, Christopher Hubbard, Joe Long and Joe Madsen, tight ends Jamie McCoy and Nathan Overbay, and defensive backs Devin Smith, Terry Hawthorne, Ross Ventrone and Josh Victorian. Among the notables was Rolle, who is the brother of more accomplished NFL players Antrel and Samari, and Golic, whose namesake father starred with the Eagles and is now an ESPN sports talk show host.
