    Giants' Johnathan Hankins: Fully healthy

Hankins is fully healthy as the Giants begin their offseason work this week. Hankins was ruled out for the season after tearing his pectoral muscle in November of last year, but has since fully recovered in time for this week's offseason work. One of the league's better young interior defensive linemen, Hankins boasts 81 tackles and seven sacks in 25 games over the past two seasons, and could benefit further from playing alongside offseason signing Damon Harrison this year.

Giants' Johnathan Hankins: Out for season

Hankins will miss the rest of this season after suffering a torn pectoral that will require surgery. Hankins' season-ending injury was confirmed Monday, leaving the Giants without their outstanding third-year defensive tackle going forward. With Hankins out, New York's remaining interior defensive lineman are currently Markus Kuhn, Jay Bromley and Kenrick Ellis, although fullback Nikita Whitlock has also seen occasional snaps there as well.

Giants' Johnathan Hankins: Likely out for the year

Hankins (torn pectoral muscle) is likely out for the year. Hankins was the team's best interior lineman, and his loss could hurt its run defense, though Jason Pierre-Paul's return on the outside will mitigate that somewhat.

Giants ready to use rookies along defensive line

With the Giants' defensive line banged up, coach Tom Coughlin hinted Wednesday rookies Damontre Moore and Johnathan Hankins could factor into the rotation Week 5 vs. Philadelphia. "Moore will get an opportunity to contribute," Coughlin said, per The Star-Ledger. "He has done a nice job on special teams (two tackles). He has good energy. Hopefully, we can build on that." Hankins, a second-round pick, has been inactive for the first four games. "I like Hankins' work a week ago (in practice)," Coughlin said. "I thought he was a really difficult guy for us to block from an offensive standpoint. I really felt like Jonathan was ready to contribute and I feel the same way right now. So I'm looking forward to watching him play."
