Lions 'very high' on WR Corey Fuller

In wideouts Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, the Lions feature one the best 1-2 punches in the league. But the Lions' website notes the team "is also very high on Corey Fuller and is hoping he takes the same big jump in his development from year two to three as he did from his rookie season to year two." A 6-2, 200-pound former track star, Fuller caught 14 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown in limited work last year. The 24-year-old is in for a bigger role in 2015.

Lions see plenty of upside in WR Corey Fuller

The Lions are looking for a solid No. 3 receiver to supplement Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate, and converted track star Corey Fuller could be the guy, reports the team's website. Fuller was Johnson's backup in 2014 and played in some multi-receiver sets, catching 14 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown. "I think I had a big improvement coming in from last year to this year," said Fuller, a sixth-round pick in the 2013 draft. "If I just keep on progressing, who knows where I can go." Fuller, who brings a unique combination of speed and strength, said his main focus this offseason is improving his route running. "The whole (route) tree," he said. "Being able to expand the routes they throw me."

Young Lions WR Corey Fuller gets kudos from Caldwell

Lions second-year wideout Corey Fuller, who has emerged since star Calvin Johnson lost time to an ankle injury, has earned the praise of Jim Caldwell. Fuller has eight receptions for 83 yards in the last three games, including two key snags in the fourth quarter of the Week 7 win over New Orleans. He snagged the game-winning touchdown. "He's just barely scratching the surface," Caldwell told "He's long, he can run, he's smart, he's tough and obviously you can see he can go up and make plays for you as well. Four receivers for one spot in Detroit?

The Lions official team website believes four receivers will compete for one roster spot in camp this summer. Kevin Ogletree, Kris Durham, rookie T.J. Jones and second-year wideout Corey Fuller are considered "leading candidates" for the job. Ogletree and Durham lead the way in terms of experience but Fuller and Jones are younger and might have more explosiveness to contribute.
