Henery delivered two extra points early in the game but endured a rough second half, beginning with a 44-yard attempt that hit the right upright. He was then short from 47 yards out before pushing a potential tying strike wide left from 50 yards out with less than a minute remaining in the game. The Lions figure to scour the available kicking options before making a potential change, as Henery is just 1 for 5 in two weeks with the team.

    Alex Henery makes one of two long distance attempts in debut

    Lions kicker Alex Henery had an up-and-down performance in his season debut on Sunday against the Jets at MetLife Stadium. Henery showed off his leg early on with a 51-yard field on the opening drive of the game. However, he missed a 52-yard kick in the fourth quarter. Detroit is planning to sign former Eagles kicker Alex Henery after kicker Nate Freese missed another field goal attempt Week 3. Freese has converted just 43 percent of his field goal attempts (3 for 7) through three games. All four of his misses have come from 40-49 yards.

The following players were all released Saturday: linebackers Emmanuel Acho and Josh Kaddu; defensive linemen Wade Keliikipi and Damion Square; defensive backs Curtis Marsh, Roc Carmichael, Keelan Johnson and Ed Reynolds; quarterback G.J. Kinne; running backs Kenjon Barner (waived/injured), Henry Josey and Matthew Tucker; wide receiver Ifeanyi Momah, Quron Pratt, Will Murphy and Damaris Johnson ; kicker Alex Henery; and offensive linemen Kevin Graf and Josh Andrews. The team also added wide receiver Arrelious Benn (back) and linebacker Travis Long (knee) to injured reserve.

    Report: Alex Henery in danger of making Eagles

    Eagles kicker Alex Henery may have lost the kicker competition, according to Hereny may have been beat out by Cody Parkey. Parkey hit two long field goals during Thursday's preseason game, which may have been the deciding factor in the decision. Henery was a fourth-round pick by the club in 2011.
