Rams' Tre Mason: Benched Sunday due to violation of team rules

Head coach Jeff Fisher said that Mason was benched for Sunday's game at Baltimore due to a violation of team rules, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Mason has regularly served as Todd Gurley's primary backup since the rookie assumed the top gig, earning a handful of touches per week. For the season, Mason has recorded 44 carries for 129 yards (2.93 YPC) and six catches (on nine targets) for 37 yards. If he's disciplined further, Benny Cunningham could take over Mason's job, as he did Sunday.

Rams' Tre Mason: Inactive for Sunday's game

Mason (not injury related) is inactive for Sunday's game at Baltimore. Mason was coming off of a rather efficient showing against the Bears, and he was not on the injury report all week, so this is a surprise. Still, Todd Gurley remains the clear workhorse on this team.

Rams' Tre Mason: Efficient in limited role versus Chicago

Mason gained 31 yards on six carries and added another 16 yards on his lone reception in Sunday's game against the Bears. He also lost a fumble. The second-year back made the most of his limited touches on Sunday, accumulating his most total yards this season. The fumble won't help Mason's cause, but he is unlikely to eat into starter Todd Gurley's typically large workload anyway. Week 11 will see the Rams travel to Baltimore, where Mason should once again play a minimal role.

Rams' Tre Mason: Ineffective in Sunday's loss

Mason carried the ball three times for 3 yards and also added a catch for minus-4 yards in Sunday's 21-18 overtime loss to St. Louis. Not a good day for Mason, as the four times he touched the ball resulted in minus-1 yards. Unless Todd Gurley gets hurt, Mason will only get meaningful carries in a blowout, and that is not prone to happen in one of the league's worst offenses.

    Rams' Tre Mason: Active Sunday

Mason (ankle) is active Sunday against the Vikings. Mason was able to practice fully Friday, clearing the way for him to play Sunday, though with Todd Gurley continuing to dominate the backfield touches, Mason's fantasy upside is limited.

Rams' Tre Mason: Listed as questionable again

Mason (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Minnesota. Mason logged a full practice Friday and should be able to play in Sunday's game, after taking 15 carries for 46 yards in a Week 8 win over the 49ers. He'll likely see far fewer touches Sunday afternoon, as the vast majority of his Week 8 workload came late in the second half of a blowout. Todd Gurley has 19 or more carries and 128 or more rushing yards in four consecutive games.

    Rams' Tre Mason: Limited Wednesday

Mason (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of reports. Mason has carried an ankle injury into a third consecutive week, though his ability to practice Wednesday indicates that he should be good to go for a second straight game. He earned his most touches of the season during Sunday's handling of the 49ers, turning 15 carries into 46 yards and his sole target into six yards.

Rams' Tre Mason: Runs for 46 yards

Mason ran for 46 yards on 15 carries in Sunday's win over the 49ers. He added a six-yard reception during the game. Sunday set season-high marks in touches and yards for Mason. With the team riding with rookie Todd Gurley, Mason may not see too many such performances moving forward. All but three of Mason's touches came in the first two and a half quarters, with the second-year back essentially coming in to put the game away and keep Gurley healthy. Unless the Rams have a string of blowouts in their future, don't expect Mason's Sunday workload to repeat itself.

Rams' Tre Mason: Suiting up Sunday

Mason (ankle) is active Sunday against San Francisco. Mason missed the first two practices of the week, but was able to return and log a full practice Friday. Even though he's active, the St. Louis rushing attack is expected to be dominated by rookie sensation Todd Gurley, leaving Mason with limited upside.

Rams' Tre Mason: Expected to play Sunday

Mason (ankle) is expected to play Sunday against the 49ers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Mason is officially listed as questionable, but he was able to practice fully Friday, clearing the way for his return. However, with the way Todd Gurley has played in recent weeks, it seems unlikely Mason will get enough touches to make a legitimate fantasy impact.
