The Saints signed Johnson on Wednesday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. At the outset of the offseason, he'll be measuring himself against fellow fullback Toben Opurum.

    Saints' Austin Johnson: Inactive Sunday

Johnson is inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts, Evan Woodberry of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. The Saints will go without a fullback in Sunday's game, instead opting to keep Marcus Murphy active as a fourth tailback. Johnson has rarely handled the ball this season while serving primarily in a blocking capacity, as he's logged just four carries for nine yards and a touchdown over his five games.

Saints FB Austin Johnson vultures touchdown in Sunday's loss

Saints fullback Austin Johnson scored on a one-yard touchdown dive in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers. Johnson, the Saints' starting fullback, vultured a score early in the fourth quarter, after Mark Ingram was stopped just shy of the goal line. Though the Saints have shown that they are comfortable using Johnson in short-yardage situations, with on four total touches through two games (two carries for five yards and two receptions for five yards), Johnson will likely be more of a nuisance for owners of Saints' running backs than a worthwhile fantasy option in most leagues.
