    Ravens DB Rashaan Melvin released after falling in depth chart

    Ravens defensive back Rashaan Melvin was let go by the Ravens on Tuesday. The 2013 undrafted free agent surprisingly ended up making starts last season as the secondary was decimated by injuries. Melvin, however, made just one appearance this season. It's not a great sign for his NFL future that he was released by a team whose biggest weakness corresponds with his position.

    The Ravens announced on Friday that tight end Phillip Supernaw, safety Brynden Trawick, cornerback Rashaan Melvin and offensive lineman Ryan Jensen signed their exclusive-rights free agent tenders. Supernaw was mostly a reserve in 2014 and had two catches for 27 yards. Trawick is a backup safety that plays on special teams coverage units. Melvin was signed off of the Dolphins' practice squad after injuries decimated the cornerbacks. Jensen was a 2013 draft pick that ended up spending the majority of 2014 on the practice squad.

    Ravens sign three to exclusive-rights tenders

    Ravens cornerback Rashaan Melvin, safety Brynden Trawick and offensive lineman Ryan Jensen signed exclusive-rights tenders Tuesday, the Baltimore Sun has reported. The former signed for $585,000 while the latter's tender is worth $510,000. Neither deal includes guaranteed money or a signing bonus. Melvin started two of three games he played in 2014 and recently underwent shoulder surgery. Trawick played in all but two games last season and registered seven tackles. Jensen was active for just one game in 2014.

    Ravens cornerback Rashaan Melvin is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery, coach John Harbaugh told reporters Tuesday, per the Baltimore Sun. Melvin emerged as a starter at the end of the season due to multiple season-ending injuries to cornerbacks Jimmy Smith (foot), Asa Jackson (knee) and Danny Gorrer (knee). He started two of the three games he appeared in, registering 17 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass deflection.
