    Buccaneers sign LB Josh Martin

    Linebacker Josh Martin was signed by the Bucs on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers official website reports. The third-year pro spent the last two seasons with Kansas City, and is currently listed as Lavonte David's primary backup at weakside linebacker on the Bucs depth chart. However, Martin figures to see the bulk of his playing time on special teams, where he excelled in 2014 over 321 snaps while with the Chiefs.

    The Chiefs have ruled quarterback Alex Smith (spleen) and cornerback Phillip Gaines (illness) out for Sunday's Week 17 divisional showdown against the Chargers.     Chiefs coach Andy Reid told reporters Monday that Dwayne Bowe has shoulder sprain, Zach Fulton has a foot sprain, Phillip Gaines has flu-like symptoms and Josh Martin has hand contusion, per the team's official website. All four players remain uncertain for Sunday's regular season finale against San Diego.
