    The Falcons signed free-agent quarterback Rex Grossman on Wednesday. The veteran quarterback received a one-year deal, according to NFL Network. Grossman has not played a down in an NFL regular season game since 2011. He has not been on an NFL roster during the regular season since 2013. Although, he was with the Browns in training camp last year. He is merely competing for a backup role behind starter Matt Ryan.

    Quarterback Rex Grossman, who last played an NFL game in 2011, said he would be ready in about a week from a foot injury if the Jets wanted to contact him about a backup position, per NFL.com. Grossman said he is nearly recovered from a sprained foot suffered a couple of weeks ago, and would be interested in joining New York's roster, which is down a QB since Geno Smith suffered a broken jaw. "We'll see if they wait for me," Grossman texted NFL.com reporter Jeff Darlington, adding that he was in good football shape. Grossman was on the Redskins' roster in 2013 and the Browns expressed interest in signing the veteran last year.
