Adam Carriker running without pain, targeting training camp

Redskins defensive end Adam Carriker, who's trying to come back from three surgeries on his right quad, has not played since Week 2 of the 2012 season. But he's running without discomfort and is optimistic he'll participate in training camp, reports "It's only February and camp is a long ways away," Carriker told the website. "Am I happy I've progressed and am better? Yes. But as a competitor I'm never where I want to be. I know I've progressed and progressed quite a bit. I have a lot of work to do, but I have a lot of time to do it." Carriker could be released before camp, saving Washington $3 million in cap room. In all likelihood the team would try to re-sign him to a lesser, incentive-laden deal. Carriker turns 30 in May.

Redskins get roster down to 75 players

The Redskins made a slew of roster moves Tuesday to get down to 75 players. They waived/injured linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy and cornerback Ryan Mouton. Both players could revert to injured reserve, if they clear waivers. They waived offensive lineman Jacolby Ashworth after reaching an injury settlement. They also terminated the contract of Jeremy Trueblood and moved Adam Carriker (leg) to the PUP list, meaning he can't return until at least Week 7 vs. Chicago.

Redskins place Adam Carriker, Josh Wilson on PUP list -- but not Robert Griffin III

The Redskins placed two players -- defensive end Adam Carriker and cornerback Josh Wilson -- on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Thursday. But they did not place quarterback Robert Griffin III on the list despite tearing multiple ligaments in his knee in January. Griffin expects to participate in much of the team's training camp and was under center during drills on Thursday. The only area of work he doesn't think he'll participate fully in is team 11-on-11 drills, and he doesn't think he'll play any preseason games either as he finishes his rehabilitation from his knee surgery. Carriker is still recovering from a torn quad muscle while Wilson is working his way back from a torn labrum.
