    Giants appear ready to make change at free safety

    Giants safety Quintin Demps practiced with the first-team defense Tuesday and it appears he will replace Stevie Brown in the starting lineup at free safety Thursday at Washington after Brown was benched Sunday against the Texans. "We're looking at all the possibilities. We're just trying to get better," defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said, per NJ.com. "It was an internal Giants decision [to make the switch] and I'll just leave it at that."

    New Giants safety Quintin Demps is the frontrunner to win the kick return job, according to the team's website. Demps ranked third in the NFL with a 30.1-yard kickoff return average last season and has only one fumble in 96 career returns.     Chiefs cornerback Dunta Robinson, defensive end Allen Bailey and safety Quintin Demps all had strong performances in a 31-7 win Week 4 vs. N.Y. Giants. Robinson had five solo tackles, one pass defense and one fumble recovery. Bailey had three solo tackles and one sack. Demps had no tackles, but had managed one interception and two pass defenses. Other defensive contributors were Sean Smith (four solo tackles), safety Eric Berry (two solo tackles, two pass defenses, one fumble recovery), linebacker Justin Houston (two solo tackles) and defensive tackle Dontari Poe (two solo tackles).

    Eight injured Kansas City players cleared to play Week 1

    Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah (foot) and tight end Travis Kelce (knee) were both cleared to play Week 1 at Jacksonville after being questionable on the injury report. Safety Quintin Demps (hamstring), tackle Eric Fisher (shoulder), linebacker James-Michael Johnson (groin), linebacker Dezman Moses (toe), cornerback Sean Smith (neck) and tackle Donald Stephenson (shoulder) were also cleared after being listed as probable.
