Seahawks get down to 75 players

The Seahawks made several roster moves to get down to Tuesday's 75-player limit. They waived defensive tackle Michael Brooks, receiver David Gilreath and linebacker Horace Miller with injury designations. Seattle also put linebacker Heath Farwell, cornerback A.J. Jefferson and guard C.J. Davis on injured reserve. Cornerback Eric Pinkins was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.

Heath Farwell expected to need groin surgery

Seahawks linebacker Heath Farwell will likely need surgery on a groin strain suffered in Friday's preseason action, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. "Heath is going back east to get evaluated — he probably has to have surgery on his groin," head coach Pete Carroll said Monday. "So that's a very difficult situation for him. He had extensive damage, so everything points to surgery." Farwell has been a key special-teams player over the last three seasons.

Seahawks defense in good shape for Week 1

The Seahawks' injury report for Week 11 against the Vikings features a lengthy list of defensive players, the vast majority of whom are expected to play through their injuries. Of the 11 defenders on the injury report, all but two are considered probable for Sunday's game. The probables for Week 11 include: Defensive linemen Jordan Hill (biceps), Chris Clemons (not injury related), Tony McDaniel (hamstring) and Bruce Irvin (shoulder); defensive backs Jeremy Lane (thigh), Richard Sherman (hip), Kam Chancellor (hip) and Jeron Johnson (hamstring); and linebacker Heath Farwell (knee). All players were able to practice Friday and should be able to play.

  • Farwell re-signs with Seattle

News: The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed LB Heath Farwell according to his agency's Twitter account. Farwell played only on special teams for Seattle after signing with the team in October. He recorded 21 tackles on special teams and blocked a punt in 11 games.
Analysis: Farwell doesn't produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Look elsewhere for Fantasy help.
  • Farwell added to 53-man roster

News: The Seahawks released RB Allen Bradford on Wednesday. He had been claimed off waivers by Seattle on Oct. 14. He was replaced on the roster by LB Heath Farwell.
Analysis: Bradford was let go by Tampa Bay earlier this season. Ignore Bradford until further notice in Fantasy leagues. Farwell will not be worth picking up in IDP formats.
  • Vikings send players packing

News: Notable Vikings players let go on Saturday include: TE Jeff Dugan, LB Heath Farwell, DE Stylez G. White, DE David Akinniyi, WR Emmanuel Arceneaux, FB Matt Asiata, WR Stephen Burton, DB Tony Carter, RB Tristan Davis, FB Ryan D'Imperio, LB David Herron, DB Ryan Hill, LB Ross Homan, WR Juaquin Iglesias, WR Jaymar Johnson, DT Tremaine Johnson, RB Caleb King, DE Cedric McKinley, DB Cord Parks, RB Alexander Robinson and DB Devon Torrence.
Analysis: None of these guys were or are expected to be Fantasy relevant. Leave them off rosters.
  • Farwell questionable for Sunday

News: Vikings special teams standout Heath Farwell is questionable for the game against the Detroit Lions with a hamstring injury. Farwell was injured in the season opener against the Cleveland Browns. He has been limited in practice all week. He missed all of last season with a knee injury, one of the main reasons the Vikings struggled on special teams last year.
Analysis: Farwell doesn't produce enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Look elsewhere for Fantasy help.
  • LB Farwell re-signs with Vikes

News: The Minnesota Vikings signed linebacker and special teams standout Heath Farwell to a three-year, $7.75 million contract on Friday. Farwell, who tore the ACL in his right knee in the first exhibition game last August and missed the entire 2008 season, also had interest from the Browns and Patriots. But after visits to Cleveland and New England, he was glad to be back with his former team - which also offered him the most money.
Analysis: Farwell doesn't post enough stats to warrant Fantasy use. Keep him off of Fantasy rosters for now.
  • Vikes say farewell to Farwell

News: Vikings LB Heath Farwell will miss the rest of the season after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament during Friday's preseason game against the Seahawks. Head coach Brad Childress said DE Jayme Mitchell also ruptured an ACL and will be lost for the season.
Analysis: Farwell, a three-year veteran, was voted special teams MVP by teammates and led the team in special teams tackles over the past two seasons. He wasn't a viable Fantasy option, so his loss means little.
