Texans' Nick Novak: Twelve points in Week 17 win

Novak converted three of his four field-goal attempts and all three extra-point kicks in Sunday's 30-6 win over the Jaguars. Novak and the Texans took advantage of weak-on-defense opponents the last two weeks. The team scored 64 points in wins over Tennessee and Jacksonville -- the highest point total in a two-game stretch all season -- with 22 of those points off the foot of Novak. While his leg wasn't as strong as Randy Bullock, the man he replaced in Week 4, Novak was more reliable, making 18 of his 21 field-goal attempts.

Texans' Nick Novak: 10 points in Week 16 win

Novak successfully converted three of his four field-goal attempts and added an extra-point kick in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Colts. Novak converted from 22, 46 and 32 yards with the lone miss being a 56-yard attempt. He has 16 points the last two weeks and will have a favorable matchup in Week 16 against Tennessee, who currently rank 24th with 25.8 points allowed per game.

Texans' Nick Novak: Misses extra point in loss

Novak made one of his two extra-point tries and was not called on for a field-goal attempt in Sunday's 30-21 loss to Buffalo. Novak had made his previous 15 kicks (nine extra points and six field goals) entering Sunday's game. The Texans' offense hasn't been very productive this season -- they average 21.1 points per game, tied for 21st -- so there may not be opportunity for Novak from week to week. He's attempted just three field goals in the last four weeks.

Novak was successful on a 41-yard field goal and booted four extra points in Sunday's win over the Jaguars. Since missing his first kick with Houston -- a 53-yard field goal attempt in Week 4 -- Novak has converted all three of his field goals and nine extra points.

Texans kicker Nick Novak much better in second game

Texans kicker Nick Novak was successful on two field-goal attempts and two extra-point kicks in Thursday night's loss to the Colts. Novak took a little heat last week when he was well short on a 53-yard effort, but showed a better leg Thursday. His longest effort was from 49 yards that looked like it would have cleared from a longer distance.

Texans' O'Brien says Nick Novak not yet comfortable with kicking operation

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said kicker Nick Novak is adjusting to the kicking operation -- the snapper and the holder -- when discussing Novak's miss in Sunday's loss to the Falcons, the Houston Chronicle reports. O'Brien acknowledged the actual kick -- a 53-yarder that fell well short of the crossbar -- was not close, but he wants to see Novak getting "comfortable with the whole operation."

Texans kicker Nick Novak makes Texans debut in Week 4

Texans kicker Nick Novak made all three of his extra-point kicks and missed a 53-yard field-goal attempt in Houston's Week 4 loss to the Falcons. Novak was brought in this week to replace Randy Bullock, who was released. The field-goal miss is a forgivable offense and his extra-point conversions are something to rejoice after Bullock missed two during the first three weeks. Additionally, Novak had two touchbacks on kickoffs, an area of the kicking game considered a weakness for him.
