    FB Greg Jones to retire as a Jaguar

    Fullback Greg Jones will sign a one-day contract with the Jaguars on Thursday and announce his retirement, reports the Florida Times-Union. The 33-year-old was out of football this season. He played nine years with the Jaguars before joining the Texans in 2013. Jones made 67 starts for the Jags and scored 13 touchdowns.

    Saints chop way down to mandated 53

    The Saints have knocked their roster down to 53 by waiving a number of players Saturday. Among the offense players let go are center Matt Armstrong, wide receivers Seantavius Jones , Brandon Coleman and Charles Hawkins, tight end Nic Jacobs, guards Jason Weaver and Marcel Jones, tackles Tavon Rooks and Thomas Welch and running backs Greg Jones and Derrick Strozier. The defenders cut loose are cornerbacks Trevin Wade, Terrence Frederick and Derrius Brooks, linebackers Keyunta Dawson and Todd Davis, tackle Lawrence Virgil, safety Pierre Warren. Placekickers Shayne Graham and Derek Dimke are also out.

    The Saints have parted ways with fullback Greg Jones Friday. Jones received four rushing attempts during the preseason, and did not play at all during the Saints final preseason game. Jones spent most of his career with the Jaguars.
