    Packers reinstate DE Datone Jones

    The Packers reinstated defensive end Datone Jones from the suspended list Tuesday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Jones will be eligible to play in Week 2 after sitting out the Packers' season opener while serving a one-game suspension. He will likely be a reserve when Letroy Guion returns from a suspension of his own, but with Guion out another two weeks, Jones could get a chance to start.

According to ESPN.com, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that the team would like to re-sign him. "I think to a man, everybody would like to see Letroy be a Green Bay Packer," McCarthy said at the NFC coaches breakfast. "He's been an excellent addition to our football team and it would be great to get Letroy back," McCarthy said. "Just from my conversations with him, I know he we wants to be a Green Bay Packer."     Free-agent defensive tackle Letroy Guion's criminal case involving 357 grams of marijuana and an unloaded gun has been closed, according to a report from ESPN.com. Guion paid a $5,000 fine plus court costs in a plea deal in his hometown of Starke, Fla. Guion did not have to admit guilt as part of the plea since he was a first-time offender. In early February, Guion was pulled over and was found in possession of the large amount of marijuana, an unloaded firearm and $190,028.81 in cash. Police seized the vehicle and cash as a result of a civil forfeiture. Guion is trying to get his vehicle and cash back. Guion recorded career-highs in tackles (32) and sacks (3 1/2) with the Packers in 2014. With the case behind Guion, he could be of interest to NFL teams. After six years with the Vikings, Guion spent the 2014 season with the Packers.

    Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion was arrested Tuesday night in Starke, Fla., for possession of marijuana and a firearm, according to multiple reports. ESPN.com was the first to have the marijuana charge, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported the firearm charge. The Journal Sentinel added that the marijuana charge, at this time, will be a felony since Guion was allegedly in possession of more than 20 grams of the illegal substance. Guion signed a one-year contract for $1 million in 2014. He's slated to become a free agent but had reportedly been in negotiations with Green Bay before this incident. "We are aware of a serious matter involving Letroy Guion," the Packers said in a statement, via ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "We have not yet spoken to Letroy and we will have no further comment."
