    Bears' Willie Young: Active Sunday

Young (ribs) is active for Sunday's matchup with the Lions, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN Chicago reports. Young saw his streak of five consecutive games with a sack come to an end last week against the Buccaneers, but he'll attempt to end the season on a high note Sunday. The rib injury limited him in his two practice appearances this week, however, which could result in a smaller snap count.

Bears' Willie Young: Records sack in fourth straight week

Young accrued four tackles and a sack in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Redskins. Young's sack can be partially attributed to the Bears secondary providing sound coverage on the play, but the outside linebacker still did well to finish off the tackle. He's now notched a sack in four straight weeks, boosting his total to 5.5 for the campaign.

Bears' Willie Young: Will start Sunday in place of McPhee

Young will start Sunday against the Redskins with Pernell McPhee (knee) ruled inactive, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN Chicago reports. McPhee had been limited enough by the injury in last week's loss to the 49ers to the point where he and the Bears' other three outside linebackers -- Young, Lamarr Houston, and Sam Acho -- had all seen a similar amount of snaps. McPhee's absence for Sunday's game will allow the three healthy outside linebackers to see a slightly increased workload, with Young probably representing the most appealing IDP option of the trio. Young has collected 3.5 sacks over his last three games.

Bears' Willie Young: Records 1.5 sacks Sunday

Young recorded three tackles and 1.5 sacks in Sunday's 26-20 overtime loss to the 49ers. Young has generated at least one sack in each of the last three weeks, as he finally seems to be growing comfortable with his role as a stand-up outside linebacker in defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's 3-4 scheme. He played 34 snaps in Sunday's game to tie Pernell McPhee and Lamarr Houston for the lead among all the Bears' outside linebackers, so he should continue to maintain a prominent role for the remainder of the season.

Bears' Willie Young: Notches a sack Sunday

Young recorded his first sack of the season in Sunday's 18-17 win over the Chiefs. After an outstanding 10-sack season with the Bears in 2014, Young found himself on the roster bubble through most of training camp with the team transitioning to a 3-4 system that made the longtime down lineman an awkward scheme fit at outside linebacker. As a result, Young had seen limited snaps through the Bears' first four games while assuming a backup role, but he gradually seems to be getting a little more comfortable. Although it appears Lamarr Houston and Sam Acho will serve as the primary replacement for the recently-traded Jared Allen, Young will continue to rotate in off the bench in pass-rushing situations.

Willie Young buried on Bears LB depth chart

Bears linebacker Willie Young was left inactive in a Week 3 loss to the Seahawks. Though he faced the stiff challenge of transitioning from a 4-3 defensive end to a 3-4 outside linebacker, while also working his way back from a torn Achilles' tendon, Young managed to earn a roster spot out of training camp. However, he still appears to be a clunky fit in the Bears' scheme, which has been reflected in his low snap counts in Weeks 1 and 2, in addition to the healthy scratch in Week 3. After Jared Allen was dealt to the Panthers on Monday, Young could have an opportunity to draw back into the active ranks for Sunday's game against the Raiders. However, he still appears to be behind Pernell McPhee, Lamarr Houston and Sam Acho in the pecking order at outside linebacker.
