Browns' Brian Hartline: Improved numbers in 2015 despite injuries

Hartline (collarbone) finished the season with 46 catches for 523 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the season on injured reserve due to a broken collarbone. Hartline spent his first seven professional seasons in Miami, and despite inconsistent quarterback play in Cleveland, he still managed to improve from his 2014 numbers. Although he started out slow, Hartline caught exactly eight passes in three straight weeks following the team's bye. He'll presumably be ready for offseason activities in advance of his age-30 season, where he'll compete for steady snaps out of the slot for the Browns.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Placed on IR

Hartline (broken collarbone) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Following a slow start to his tenure in Cleveland, Hartline finally came on strong over the last five games, catching 34 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns on 51 targets. He still wasn't too impressive from an efficiency perspective, and the high volume was partially a result of injuries suffered by his teammates. Hartline is under contract through 2016, with more than enough time to make a full recovery before training camp. It's anyone's guess what the Cleveland receiving corps might look like next season.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Broken collarbone ends season

Hartline is out for year with a broken collarbone,Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Hartline, who had eight catches for 107 yards before leaving Sunday's game against the 49ers, is slated to undergo surgery to address the issue. In his absence down the stretch run, the Browns will need to turn to the likes of Marlon Moore, Darius Jennings, Terrelle Pryor, Dwayne Bowe and Taylor Gabriel to jostle for wideout looks opposite Travis Benjamin.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Will not return Sunday

Hartline will not return to Sunday's game against the 49ers due to a shoulder injury, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Hartline had collected eight catches for 107 yards on what was a team-high 10 targets at the time of his departure. As expected, he saw increased opportunities in the passing game with both Andrew Hawkins and Taylor Gabriel inactive due to concussions. Hartline may not be able to add to that stat line, but he surely turned in a satisfactory performance for fantasy owners who took a gamble on the slot receiver. His status, along with that of the rest of the Cleveland receivers, will be worth monitoring throughout the week.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Playing through hip ailment Sunday

Hartline (hip) is active Sunday against the 49ers. Hartline was limited in practice both Thursday and Friday, emerging with a "questionable" tag leading up to the Week 14 matchup. The veteran has been effective of late, catching 16 passes on 23 targets over his last two games. His prospects don't necessarily diminish with Johnny Manziel at the helm, as Hartline saw 19 total targets over his last two games played with Manziel under center. Furthermore, the fact that Taylor Gabriel (concussion) is inactive for the contest may also mean a few extra snaps and targets for the 29-year-old slot receiver.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Expected to play Sunday

Hartline (hip) is expected to play Sunday against the 49ers, the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Hartline is listed as questionable heading into the weekend, but is expected to overcome his hip injury and play come Sunday. The veteran has done well in recent weeks and will look to keep the ball rolling with Johnny Manziel playing quarterback this weekend.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Draws questionable designation this week

Hartline (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's 1:00 ET game against the 49ers, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. The same applies to fellow wideout Travis Benjamin, though at this stage, we'd be surprised if Hartline, who practiced fully Wednesday before being limited Thursday, sat Sunday's contest out. Fortunately for those considering Hartline in fantasy lineups this week, clarification of the composition of the Browns' Week 14 wideout corps will arrive in advance of the first wave of NFL kickoffs this weekend.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Snags eight passes against Cincinnati

Hartline caught eight passes off of 11 targets for 83 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Hartline has been a different player in his last three games. After being held to 16 catches, 21 targets and 182 yards in his first eight games of the season, he has recorded 22 catches on 32 targets for 234 yards in his past three games. The Browns are the NFL's worst rushing offense, so expect them to lean on the pass as the season enters its final stretch, with Hartline continuing in his expanded role.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Eight catches versus Ravens

Hartline caught eight passes (on 12 targets) for 74 yards in Monday night's loss to the Ravens. Hartline's eight receptions led all players in Monday night's game and set a new season-high for the veteran following last week's six catches. Furthermore, Hartline has now reached the 70-yard mark in back-to-back weeks, and found the end zone twice in his appearance before that mini-streak started. As a result, Hartline has found some decent late season value in advance of Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Browns' Brian Hartline: Expanded role with Andrew Hawkins (concussion) out

Hartline had six catches on nine targets for 77 yards in Sunday's loss to the Steelers. Hartline took advantage of increased looks following the early exit of Andrew Hawkins, who suffered a concussion in the matchup. This is Hawkins' second concussion in just four games, so a multi-week absence is a highly likely scenario this time around (his first concussion forced him out two weeks). With Hawkins on the shelf, Hartline is next in line on the Cleveland wide receiver depth chart, and should serve as the No. 2 wideout behind Travis Benjamin. The 28-year-old Hartline is comfortable playing in the slot, and the extra looks he expects to receive give him some fantasy upside, especially in PPR formats.
