Avalanche's Calvin Pickard: Beaten five times in loss to Nashville

Pickard was tagged for five goals on 33 shots in Tuesday's loss to the Predators.

A dynamic performer through his first seven appearances, Pickard came into this game with a golden opportunity to build momentum in an effort to overtake Semyon Varlamov as the starter, but it didn't work out that way. That said, Varly's had more than his share of five-goal games this year (five in 14 outings), so maybe the Avs will cut Pickard some slack for this rare subpar appearance.
