Andrighetto was protected by the Avalanche with the expansion draft looming, The Denver Post reports.

Traded from Montreal at the March 1 deadline, Andrighetto saw his average ice time figure jump by six minutes per contest. He skated for an even 17:30 with the Avs, fashioning 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) in 19 games. Given such lofty production coupled with wide speculation that star pivot Matt Duchene will be on the outs this summer, it's no wonder the Avs want to retain Andrighetto.
