Pateryn will be in the active lineup Thursday against Carolina, filling in on the third pair for the injured Nathan Beaulieu (neck), Pat Hickey of the Montreal Gazette reports.

Beaulieu will miss Thursday's game and is doubtful for Saturday's game in Detroit -- Pateryn's hometown -- so the 26-year-old will have at least a two-game look to make an impression on coach Michel Therrien. The 26-year-old has been a healthy scratch five of the last seven games, and he averaged just 11 minutes in the two games for which he was active. With Beaulieu expected back next week and Zach Redmond (foot) nearing a return, Pateryn and the recently recalled Mark Barberio are battling to remain with the NHL club.
