Ovechkin fired 15 shots on goal Tuesday night against the Red Wings, though he was unable to pass Sergei Federov for the most career goals scored by a Russian-born NHL player.
Ovechkin accounted for nearly 40 percent of the Capitals' shots in the contest, but Wings goalie Petr Mrazek put up a wall and recorded his first shutout of the season. It's obvious Ovi is hungry for that gaudy record, and he'll have another chance to secure it Thursday against the Flyers.
