Sanford recorded an assist in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Flames.
His first point, the 21-year-old continues to show he can get regular ice time at the pro level. However, whether the Capitals choose to keep him past the ten-game threshold that would burn the first year of his entry-level contract is not yet known, but if he jumpstarts his offense, he could make a strong case for a full season in D.C. Even so, he remains a reach even in deeper leagues due to lack of opportunity.
