Sanford will be recalled from AHL Hershey on Saturday morning, Isabelle Khurshudyan of The Washington Post reports.

Prior to the NHL roster freeze Monday, the Capitals wanted to be sure that Sanford would be on the roster and now he likely will be through at least Dec. 27. The 2013 second-round draft pick managed only one assist while averaging 10:07 of ice time during his first stint with the big club and he's not likely to cut out a top-six role for himself in the immediate future, barring a major injury to one of Washington's key players.
