Smith hasn't won since shutting out the lowly Avalanche on March 13, spanning four games. There's inherently some level of trust in a veteran goalie like Smith, but the matchup against the Capitals is far from ideal. After all, Alex Ovechkin's club is averaging 3.34 goals per game at home, good for second in the entire league.
